This pretty wedding cake trend is known by many names - cake top forward cake, standing cake and also an arch cake. But whatever you call it, there's no denying that the results are sublime. So what is a cake top forward cake exactly? It's a very simple premise: simply take a round cake, cut off one of the sides so that it resembles a semi circle, and stand it on its side. Since the top of the cake is now facing you, it then becomes the front, so it's easy to see where it gets its name from. This trend allows for serious creativity with decorating as well, with stencils, marbling and elaborate flower arrangements and delicate adornments a wonderful way to bring your wedding theme through. And they don't just have to be round...
Cake top forward creations can also come in square, rectangle or scalloped shapes too that are just as lovely!

Something important to note: The cake top forward trend works really well for smaller wedding cakes. This is because the bigger the cake, the more unstable a top forward cake style becomes. Usually taller cakes need dowels or supports to stabililse them to they don't topple over, but unfortunately this isn't always possible with this style. But if you're having a small gathering we couldn't think of anything prettier to serve your guests!
